Abstract
A one-dimensional model is developed to describe the motion of dislocations within a slip plane during creep in a single crystal superalloy. The most relevant creep mechanisms are incorporated in a simple way which allows for future refinements. The model parameters are obtained from micro-mechanical literature values and by calibration with experimental creep data. Computer simulations show good agreement with creep curves for other stress levels. 1. Introduction The use of single crystal nickel-base superalloys in load-bearing components for high temperature applications is widespread, due to the excellent preservation of their mechanical properties combined with a reasonable oxidation behaviour. Their superior creep resistance at elevated temperature is an effect o
