Abstract
Numerical simulations of a tracer gas dispersion from a vehicle tunnel in an urban environment are compared with in-situ measurements. The effects of turbulence modelling, numerical diffusion, boundary conditions and turbulence generated by traffic are investigated. 1 Introduction - Field experiment The finite-volume code PHOENICS^, is being used by CSTB for the simulation of wind flows inside an urban environment. In order to evaluate the ability of such Computational Fluid Dynamics methods to predict the dispersion of pollutants in these complex flows, a field experiment has been carried out at Porte Maillot in Paris. This site is a combination of a street canyon and an open area where three adjacent vehicle tunnels are coming out. The
