Abstract
A numerical method is developed to calculate transport of pollutants near coasts of arbitrary shape. The 3-D Navier-Stokes equations together with the continuity equation are solved numerically in the physical domain by applying an iterative pressure-correction procedure. Two test cases are examined concerning a steady state jet flow in a sea current. 1 Introduction The prediction of transport and diffusion of pollutants near coasts remains a crucial problem, since it is directly related to long- or short- term decisions for protecting the sea environment.
