Abstract
It is well known that vehicles contribute to harmful air pollution in busy towns and cities. The correlation between traffic, air pollution and meteorological parameters in the city of Athens has been examined in this work. Approximately 3,000,000 vehicles circulate on the roads of Athens, of which the vast majority are private cars. Car occupancy is reaching only 1.4 passengers/vehicle, which leads to chaotic traffic conditions and health problems due to near ground air pollution.
