Abstract
Case studies concerning the remediation and redevelopment of two contaminated sites in the USA (Gilbert-Mosley Site in Kansas and Continental Steel Site in Indiana) show that at each of the sites common approaches and elements contributed to the successful cleanup and development. These include: Innovative and cost saving groundwater remediation approaches including alternate cleanup goals and waivers. Integrated total site solutions allowing for cost saving approaches and synergism between individual areas of the site. Innovative and cost saving remediation techniques such as horizontal drilling.
