Abstract
In spring 2001, the Environmental Agency of Slovenia commissioned new ambient air pollution monitoring system. Financed from the Phare funds, it was completely designed and built by the Slovenian company AMES. As opposed to the old monitoring network, based on the dedicated data transmission and hierarchic star-topology, new system fully utilizes Internet technology and distributed network concept.
