Abstract
As a matter of facts when a hazardous material release occurs during tank truck transportation, the release hole can have an infinite number of dimensions; though, when performing a transportation risk analysis study, it is necessary to choose a finite number of possible holes and to assign to each hole a fixed dimension and a hole probability of occurrence; usually this choice is subjectively made by the risk analyst. In the transportation risk studies appeared in literature different hole numbers, different hole dimensions and different probabilities for each hole, that is different incident characterisations, have been adopted. In order to verify the influence of these incident descriptions on the risk measures, the more mea
