Abstract
Two fully interactive versions of the 1957 Thornthwaite and Mather water budget that estimate monthly potential and actual evapotranspiration are now available. One is for school use, and the other professional version is for use by research, consulting, and management personnel. Both versions: (1) require mean or actual monthly temperature, precipitation and, if desired, runoff; (2) use either default demonstration data or operator-provided data (including choice of hemisphere, soil storage capacity, latitude, and elevation); and (3) have screen and print options. Output is a fully documented tabular water budget, and two graphs: a climatogram and a comparison of predicted and measured runoff.
