Abstract
Massive groundwater pollution by oil products was registered in the area of the oil refinery in Vojany, Slovakia. The combined groundwater remediation system using different in-situ technologies was applied in the plant area. The remediation system is based on the extraction of the polluted groundwater from the aquifer by two lines of wells. The BOSS GMS and MT3DMS software were used to develop a 2D-flow model and advection - dispersion model (with influence of sorption and decay) aimed at the evaluation of hydraulic effects of extraction wells. Two different approaches were considered: a) simple increase of pumping rates from extraction wells; b) coupling of infiltration wells with extraction ones. Increased pumping rates from the extraction wells were found more advantageous compared to the alterna
