Abstract
The preliminary results of a experimental campaign held in the Eastern coast of Spain are presented. The objective of the instrumental deployment was to extend the experimental characterization of air pollution cycles to the regions of the Western Mediterranean and Southern Europe, and complement the already existing experimental data for atmospheric processes over the Iberian Peninsula, documenting the continuity of the return flows and extent of aged airmasses over the Mediterranean sea. 1 Introduction Within the RECAPMA project, "Regional Cycles of Air Pollution in the Mediterranean Area", sponsored by the CEC (DGXH/E-l, under contract STEP 006 C[JR]) an intensive measurement campaign was held in the Eastern coast of Spain during July 1991. Following the efforts started in 1987 (MECAPIP pr
