Abstract
MAQSIP (Multiscale Air Quality Simulation Platform) is the air quality model of the Environmental Decision Support System (EDSS) that is a prototype for U.S EPA's Models-3. SAQM (SARMAP Air Quality Model) is an upgraded version of the Regional Acid Deposition Model and is currently used by the California Air Resources Board for air quality management. MAQSIP was developed using SAQM as a starting point. The main difference in the two models is the modular software design of MAQSIP that enables significant flexibility in choosing individual science modules. Thus by choosing appropriate science modules, MAQSIP can be configured to emulate SAQM. In this study, we present an evaluation of MAQSIP's ability to simulate the estab
