Abstract
Ecosystem management (EM), as a new concept and as a methodology, has been given attention since 1991. EM is the new way of regional management that integrates the scientific knowledge on ecological interrelationships and the complex socio-economic and political frame of values, aiming at the long-term protection of the entire natural ecosystem. It is a holistic approach to the management of natural resources, including the human, biological and natural dimensions, having as an objective the sustainability.
