Abstract
The non-hydrostatic mesoscale model GRAMM is applied to simulate the flow-field and the transport of pollutants for the test cases of the Athenian Photochemical Smog Intercomparison of Simulations (APSIS) The meteorological part of the model solves the conservation equations for mass momentum, potential temperature and humidity in terrain-following coordinates. The results show the transport of the non-reacting pollutant CO with the land-sea breeze circulations. During the day solar radiation causes an increase in soil temperature together with a strong sea-breeze. During the night the wind speed over Athens decreases with varied directions. The comparison of simulated and measured meteorological values show tha
