Abstract
The EUMAC Zooming Model (EZM) is applied to simulate the mesoscale wind flow and the transport and transformation of air pollutants in the Athens Basin on May 25, 1990. The application of a suitable nesting technique allows imposing refined boundary conditions with regard to the flow at the lateral boundaries of the standard APSIS domain. Using the wind fields provided by the model MEMO and suitable emission data, the photochemical dispersion model MARS is applied to simulate ozone formation in the Greater Athens Area. The simulation results elucidate the characteristics of a photosmog episode
