Abstract
A numerical tool which simulates the dispersion into the atmosphere of the emitted pollutants during a fire has been developed. The predicting model of smoke transport is made up of a diagnostic meteorological module linked with a dispersion module. This dispersion model, based on a lagrangean approach, was adapted and developed to match the requirements of the present work, with the inclusion of the forest fire emission factors, providing a method for simulating atmospheric dispersion of the smoke. The model was applied to a real fire situation and the comparison between the simulation results and the available data indicates that the model describes reasonably well the situation during the fire. 1 Introduction Forest fires are an important source of various gaseous and panicul
