Abstract
Mesoscale dispersion modelling of the Iberian thermal low in summer time J.I. Ibarra", R.L. Walko\ W.A. Lyons& Spain , inc., f .0. CO ABSTRACT The Regional Atmospheric Modelling System (RAMS) is used to simulate the dominant transport pathways associated with the formation of a thermal low over the Iberian Peninsula. A state-of-the-art Lagrangian particle model (HYP ACT) is used as the diagnostic tool for the identification of the main patterns related with the dispersion of tracer plumes at 6 different locations in Spain. A realistic representation of the entire mesoscale phenomena is given along with prediction of plume trajectories over a 18h period for the meteorological conditions observed during July 27, 1989.
