Abstract
Two stage streaker aerosol samplers allow an hourly time resolution. We used this kind of sampler to study the emissions near a steel smelter in Genova. A first streaker sampler was located very close to the plant while other samplers have been placed in different points of the town. The samplers filters have been analysed by the Particle Induced X ray Emission (PIXE), deducing pollutants concentrations for elements from Na to Pb. During part of the campaign, the aerosol fractions with aerodynamic diameter (Dae) < 2.5 jim (fine fraction) and with 2.5 < D%e < 10 p.m (coarse fraction) have been sepa
