Abstract
A Gaussian dispersion model is used to predict the concentration of air pollutants, in particular sulfur dioxide, in the residential and industrial areas in the vicinity of a refinery and a power plant near Esfahan which is located in central Iran. Based on the local meteorological and geographical information, the quality and quantity of fuels used, and the stack characteristics, the air pollution has been predicted in the area under different meteorological conditions. The impact of the expansion of power plant has also been investigated. Introduction Dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere and their concentrations at different distances
