Abstract

Development of oil and natural gas deposits off Sakhalin's northern coast in the Sea of Okhotsk are currently under way. An accident involving a spill of crude oil or other effluents during the current development of the oil and natural gas deposits off the eastern coast of northern Sakhalin could be expected to affect the environment and economy of the Hokkaido's Okhotsk and Pacific coast.
