Abstract
The Eulerian-Lagrangian Localized Adjoint Method (ELLAM) has been successfully employed in the solution of advection-dominated linear transport problems. Some procedures, based on Picard or successive approximations, have been proposed to tackle nonlinear problems. Nevertheless, ELLAM is restricted to linear problems, since the adjoint equation can only be found for linear operators. A procedure based on the Taylor-Frechet expansion of the nonlinear advection-diffusion-reaction operator, along the characteristics, is presented in this paper.
