Abstract
The simulation tool HAM enables the user to calculate the flow pattern and the adsorption in an activated carbon adsorber. For a verification of the model simulated breakthrough curves are compared with experimental data from single bed columns. Further simulation runs compare two multi-layer-procedures which were developed to reduce GAC-Fouling (the LUCA and the KSVA procedure) with a conventional adsorber consisting of a single bed. A sensitivity analysis points out which parameters have a large influence on the simulation quality of HAM and should therefore be determined carefully.
