Abstract
A strategy is presented to evaluate the reliability of multi-continuum models for simulating contaminant transport in multi-scale fractured permeable formations. The study focuses on contaminant transport in fractured aquifers comprising fracture sets on different length and pore scales coupled with the rock matrix, where all of these hydraulic components might participate in regional transport processes. The different types of multi-continuum models to simulate such formations are presented. Based on high density information gained from multi- scale physical and numerical experiments different multi-continuum models are evaluate
