Abstract
Boundary element method based on dual reciprocity principle is used for the analysis of dispersion in a finite porous media which is controlled by the flow of a low concentration fluid towards a region of higher concentration. A generalised scheme of the dual reciprocity boundary element method is used in the solution by giving more attention to the region of rapid change in concentration. A finer discretization is used in the region of rapid change and a coarser discretization in other regions to avoid numerical instability. Special attention is paid to the situation when the flow balances the effect of the dispersion. The model is compared with some analytical solutions and a finite difference solution and found to be satisfactory. Introduction As g
