Abstract
The stream water quality model QUAL2E is used to model a slow flowing canal in Tampa, Florida. Predictive capability of this model is evaluated by using observed flow rates and water quality data. Recommended rates and coefficients, obtained from the US Geological Survey and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, were used as a first approximation, and then adjusted to obtain better model predictions. Fairly good agreement between observed and predicted values were obtained for dissolved oxygen, organic nitrogen, and other parameters. 1 Introduction Stream water quality models have been widely used for water supply permit determination, waste load allocation, and land use planning
