Abstract
Biofuels are increasingly being utilized because of their neutrality in green house gas emissions. Boilers, which use more than twice the energy of automobiles, are great candidates for bio fuels particularly because the level of refinement required is significantly less and stack gas cleanup is easier to accomplish. Combustion efficiency charts for burning bio fuels of different chemical makeup are not available but are required to properly tune a boiler and to evaluate boiler hardware improvements. This paper gives the detailed theoretical development necessary to produce combustion efficiency charts for various bio fuels. It concludes with two example charts. The information in the paper will allow users to easily develop combustion efficiency charts for a given bio fuel. Keywords: combustion, boilers, efficiency, biofuels.
