Abstract
Feasibility of mechanical means for air pollution mitigation in Mexico City A. Rodriguez-Valdes, A. Palacio-Perez, I. Navarro-Gonzalez, J.L. Post 70-472, Coyoacan 04510, Mexico D.F., Mexico ABSTRACT A feasibility study is presented on the implementation of mechanical means, such as large fans, to induce jets and plumes in a stable atmosphere to reduce the very high air pollution concentration levels near road ways. A finite volume computational technique is used to predict the aerodynamic flow field and concentration contours of a non-reactive pollutant, obtained from a kytoon-suspended duct-fan operating under different conditions. INTRODUCTION The air pollution problem in the Mexico City basin has recently become a focus of attention given the episodes of high concentration of pollutants that have occurred, and
