Alhajji* "Chemical Engineering Department, ^Mechanical Engineering Department, College of Engineering & Petroleum, Kuwait University, PO Box 5969, Safat 13060, Kuwait ABSTRACT An improved diffuse interface model has been implemented successfully to simulate two sets of independent experimental results on the sulphidation of limestone by SO% gas at high temperatures. It is shown that while the grain model and the pore model could not represent the above experimental data, the diffuse interface model successfully simulated both sets of experimental data by taking into account the gas film mass transfer resistance.
