Ranganna Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore, 560 056, India ABSTRACT Pollutants in ambient air in two traffic infested roads of ' Bangalore city, South India, due to automobile emission containing SPM, Pb, B(a)P, SO 2 and NO are assessed. Their correlation with x meteorological elements is established. Measures to ease out traffic congestion are suggested. Mitigation of the hazardous effects of pollutants are discussed and suitable recommendations are made.
