Invited Paper Long range transport of air pollutants in Asia G.R. Carmichael, Young Sunwoo, Yang Zhang Department of Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, Center for Global & Regional Environmental Research, University of ABSTRACT An overview of long range transport of air pollutants in Asia is presented. Acid deposition regional elevated ozone and long range transport of dust are present problems in isolated locations throughout Asia. The projected massive growth in fossil fuel emissions over the next several decades suggest that these regional scale air pollution issues will become of growing importance in the not too distant future. INTRODUCTION The prediction and management of air quality is gaining increasing importance around the world. Its importance can only be expected to increase in the future as there is growing concern about the effects of air pollution on the earth's ecosystems.
