Abstract
Some prototypes of external fixation devices for open-bone human fractures are described in this work. The analysis and design were based on a three dimensional finite-element models, in order to determine the stress distributions in the bone and in the devices to obtain improved designs. The prototypes were manufactured with different materials such as steel, aluminum and reinforced nylon.
