Abstract
Mathematical modelling of the burn patient metabolism I: the glucose in the post-burn shock stage L. Roa,» T. Gomez-Cia,^ J.I. This state is called hyperglycaemia. In this period, plasma volume decreases and hypovolemia appears. In this situation, with an incremented solute -glucose- and a decreased solvent -plasma volume-, glycaemia is not an accurate reference of the dynamic behaviour of the extracellular glucose. In this paper, an algorithm is used in the analysis of the extracellular glucose behaviour in burns patients during the shock stage. INTRODUCTION The development of hyperglycaemia soon after burning has been known for the last 55 years, its degree being directly re
