Abstract
Retrospective analysis based on radiographs belonging to the same follow-up, can highlight bone remodelling induced by an implant and give indication on mechanical stress distribution. In order to be able to compare radiographs taken at different times on the same patient, it was developed an automated processing procedure which permits a calibration of the grey measurements of images able to minimise the influence of those factors which alter the radiographs grey scale. The methodology described herein suggests a new way of observing a natural structure through the aid of in- strumentation and it converts a qualitative analysis into a quantitative one. In the clinical practice, the results are an effective aid to evaluate the biome- chanical behaviour of the bone-implant
