Abstract
We developed a simple algorithm to facilitate computerized real time processing of electromagnetic flow signals in a noisy environment. The algorithm is based on localizing a local peak and then scanning the data forward and backward for minimal peak amplitude and width according to specific selection criteria. The sturdiness and validation of the computation algorithms were assessed by first analyzing more than six hundred 12 second data bursts as a raw signal, and then reanalyzing the bursts after the digital addition of a simulated sine wave with a peak-to-peak amplitude of 5 L/min and a frequency of 10, 20 or 40 Hz. The comparison results showed accurate peak detection with virtually identica
