Abstract
A combination of non-invasive experimental measurements and theoretical analysis, using a geometrical model of the knee joint, was used to calcu- late knee ligament forces during exercise. A "limiting solutions approach [3] was used to resolve the indeterminacy problem. Three subjects were evaluated. Muscle combinations tending to maximise ligament loads were examined and found to be generally consistent with EMG. Calculated con- tact forces were found to be in line with previous studies.
