Abstract
This article discusses mechanical and morphological properties of lattice continuum as a computational model of the bone with microstructure, that is, the cancellous bone with trabecular architecture. Anisotropic mechanical properties of the lattice continuum are formulated in terms of structural parameters, based on the couple stress theory. The fabric tensor and the area fraction of the cancellous bone are measured morphologically, and are used to determine the structural parameters of the lattice continuum. The anisotropic elastic properties are examined in terms of the lattice orientation and the apparent density. 1 Introduction The bone tissue has microstructu
